Overview

This two year course will offer students the opportunity to study a number of business functions including financial analysis, digital marketing, financial markets, money and banking, international business, business management, event management, human resource management, and marketing.

This qualification is the equivalent of studying 4 A-levels.  

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

This CIM qualification is a professional qualification that is recognised by businesses across the world , It  provides an understanding of the key concepts and terminology used in marketing. The course consists of 6 units which 3 are examined and 3 are assignment based. At the end of this qualification, you will have a knowledge and understanding of the role and function of marketing , digital marketing within organisations and the factors that influence consumer behaviour. You will also be able to identify key components of the marketing environment, digital marketing and strategies implemented within the marketing mix to help develop digital campaigns.

Key information

  • A minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*-C, including Mathematics and English Language 
  • Or a Merit profile in BTEC Level 2 Business and Mathematics and English Language GCSE.

  • Understand the principles of Banking and Finance nationally and internationally  
  • Develop a full digital marketing campaign  
  • Produce a business plan and online presence  
  • Identify how to manage people, projects, and resources
  • Plan events with the use of digital and traditional marketing strategies.

Grading criteria

  • Internal assessment (58%) 
  • External assessment (42%) 

Units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction (D), Merit (M), Pass (P). Qualifications are graded using a scale of PP to D*D* London Institute of Banking and Finance professional qualification is graded A-E. 

Staying with Gower College Swansea, you could progress to a Higher Education course in a business management or accounting related qualification. Successful completion of the BTEC business with the London Institute of Banking and Finance provides learners with UCAS points and is recognised by universities for full Hons degrees.
