Overview

This qualification is suitable for learners who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in managing health and safety for the workplace.

Learners will have an autonomous role in their organisation for managing health and safety policy and practice, and will report directly to or be part of a senior management team. Learners should also be aware of cost implications and budgetary control.

Key information

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however a short meeting will be required to discuss the course content and establish whether the level is suitable for the learner.

The short meeting will also discuss whether the candidates can demonstrate the competence needed within their role, due to performance on the job being the main basis for assessment.

To successfully complete the qualification, learners will need to complete the following units:

  • Health and safety emergency procedures
  • Health and safety audits
  • A positive health and safety culture in an organisation
  • Organisational health and safety policy
  • Professional development and ethics in health and safety practice
  • Systems monitoring and risk control
  • Organisational health and safety strategy

Upon successful completion of the qualification, learners can progress into suitable levels of employment, specialist IOSH qualifications, higher education, or to the following City and Guilds qualifications:

  • NVQ in Management of Health and Safety Level 6
  • ILM Management NVQs 

The course fee for this qualification is £2,000, VAT Exempt.
